About Us

Katarina Costa - Author

Katarina learned to read at three, taught by her older sister who also learned to read at the same age.

Kat was identified in 2nd grade as a gifted and talented student. She always strived to achieve excellence in all she has done.  She has been a self-motivated student as she completed online school most of her early years. When she reached 8th grade, she decided to take her education to the next level. She tested and applied to the Davidson Academy in Reno, NV. An academy noted for its exemplary education. The curriculum runs 3 years above the typical high school curriculum and she was accepted into the academy for high school.

When Kat reached the end of her sophomore year in high school she decided to enter the dual credit program at TMCC. In May of 2022, as a Senior in high school, she graduated with an Associate of Science. Kat really found her passion in math courses as she completed all of her college level courses during the school year and summer months. This project, Math QRH, has been a year in the making. She is pursuing her Bachelor's degree at Stanford University and hopes to one day complete a doctoral program.

"Im no expert. I just want to help."

Katarina Costa took her passion for mathematics and designed Math QRH as a way to provide value to other students in mathematics. Katarina is the founder and president of the first High School Chapter in Nevada for Women in Mathematics.  She attended the Davidson Academy in Reno, NV and is a current dual enrollment student (high school and college), and will graduate with a AS in Mathematics. She is the receipient of the 2021-2022 College Board Scholar for the National Hispanic Recognition Program, a member of the National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa.

Katarina understands that she is by no means an "expert", but she has learned that mathematics is a subject where anyone can be successful. Keys to her success are things that anyone can do. It starts with a simple decision that good enough is not good enough. Anyone can be excellent! In order to succeed, you have to accept the fact that there is work to be done, that practice is important and that there are all kinds of resources available to help you in whatever journey you wish to complete!
